These scrap metal FAQs cover what businesses ask us most before they sell: what we buy, where we collect, how we price and how a quote works. If your question is not here, ask it in the quote box or give us a call.

For the steps from first message to pick-up, read how it works. For metal-by-metal detail, start with what we buy.

Frequently asked questions

What scrap metal do you buy?

Every common scrap metal. Non-ferrous metals such as copper, brass and aluminium; steel, iron and stainless; and items like cable, motors, radiators, car batteries, white goods and catalytic converters. What we buy lists the items and grades.

Do you pick up, or do I bring the metal to you?

We pick up from your site. We do not have a drop-off yard at the moment, so there is no trailer to hire and no queue.

Do you collect from homes?

No, not for now. Our pick-ups are for businesses and trades, such as a plumber with a van of offcuts or a factory with a skip of swarf.

Which areas do you cover?

All of South East Queensland between Noosa and the Gold Coast, with Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Logan and the Redlands in between. Check your postcode on the areas we cover page.

How do I get a quote?

Call us, or tell us what you have in the quote form, which sits on every page. Add your photos before you send, and our reply is your quote.

How do you price scrap metal?

By the metal, its grade and the weight. The grade depends on how clean and sorted the metal is. Metal prices move with the market, so we quote each load on the day. Our prices page explains what lifts a price.

Do I need to sort my metal first?

You can send it mixed. Sorted metal earns a higher grade, though, so if there is time, split the copper and brass from the steel before we arrive.

Do you buy catalytic converters?

Yes, one at a time or in bulk. Send photos and the code stamped on each converter. See catalytic converters.

Can my business get regular pick-ups?

Ask us. Workshops and sites that produce scrap every week can arrange pick-ups that suit their volume. See commercial and industrial scrap metal.

What can't you take?

Asbestos, explosives and ammunition, fuel and other flammables, sealed gas cylinders, corrosive or poisonous chemicals, medical waste, radioactive material and general rubbish.

Do you take fridges and air conditioners?

They hold refrigerant gas, which a licensed technician must recover before the unit is scrapped. Tell us if yours still has gas in it when you ask for a quote. See white goods.

Do I need ID to sell scrap metal?

Queensland has rules for buying and selling second-hand metal. Our blog guide to selling scrap metal in Queensland explains them.
