Brisbane scrap copper buyers who collect from your site
Copper is one of the most valuable non-ferrous scrap metals, so sell it rather than bin it. Forge Recyclers buys scrap copper from electricians, plumbers, air-conditioning techs, builders and workshops across Brisbane, and we collect it from your site. Send photos of your copper and we reply with a quote.
Types of scrap copper we buy
Bare copper wire
Clean, stripped wire with no coating, solder or tarnish. This is the top copper grade.
Copper pipe and tube
Plumbing and air-conditioning pipe. Clean pipe is worth more than pipe with solder, paint or fittings.
Mixed and coated copper
Copper with solder, paint or a light coating, and loads that mix copper items.
Insulated copper cable
Power, building and data cable, priced on the copper inside.

Why sell your scrap copper to Forge Recyclers
- We collect from the job or the depot. Cable offcuts, pipe and cylinders go straight from your site, with no trip to a yard.
- Graded on how clean it is. Bare wire, clean pipe and mixed copper are graded apart, so sorted copper is priced as sorted copper.
- A quote before the pick-up. Send photos and see the quote before we collect anything.
- One trip for the lot. Add the brass, cable and steel from the same jobs.
Scrap copper prices in Brisbane: what your copper is worth
We price copper by grade and weight, and the grade comes down to how clean it is. Bare, bright wire earns the most. Solder, paint, brass fittings and plastic all pull the grade down. The copper price moves with the world market every day, so a price list goes out of date fast. Send photos instead and we quote today's price for your load.
A few minutes of sorting can lift what your copper is worth:
- Keep copper apart from brass and steel.
- Cut off brass fittings and steel clamps when it is quick and safe to do.
- Keep insulated cable apart from bare copper.
- Never burn cable to strip it.
Who sells us scrap copper
Electricians sell us cable offcuts and old switchboards. Plumbers have pipe, cylinders and brass fittings. Air-conditioning and refrigeration techs have pipe and compressors. Builders and demolition crews pull copper out in strip-outs, and manufacturers build up offcuts and busbar. Our page for tradies explains how a regular pick-up works.
Copper recycling that pays
Copper can be recycled again and again without losing its performance, so your offcuts go back into new wire, pipe and fittings. Recycling copper also takes far less energy than mining and refining new metal: about 85% less, according to the recycling industry's figures. For your business, it turns a bin of waste into income and keeps copper out of landfill and general waste skips.
Scrap copper pick-up from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast
We collect copper from job sites, workshops and businesses from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast. Most loads are mixed, so add the brass, cable and steel to the same pick-up. The process is the same every time: photos, a quote, then the pick-up. See how a scrap metal pick-up works.

Copper and the other scrap metals we buy
Ferrous metals contain iron and non-ferrous metals don't. One pick-up can take both: tap a metal to see what we take.
Non-ferrous metals
No iron in them, so a magnet won't stick. They are worth more per kilo than steel.
Ferrous metals
Steel and iron, which a magnet sticks to, and stainless steel, an iron alloy graded on its own.
Mixed-metal items
Things made of more than one material, such as cable, motors and converters.
What Forge Recyclers can't take
For safety, we can't take these, even mixed in with metal. Not sure about an item? Ask us before the pick-up.
- Asbestos
- Explosives and ammunition
- Fuel and other flammables
- Sealed gas cylinders
- Corrosive or poisonous chemicals
- Medical or biohazard waste
- Radioactive material
- Household rubbish

Questions about selling scrap copper
How much is scrap copper per kg in Brisbane?
It depends on the grade and the copper price on the day, which follows the world market. Clean, bare copper earns the most per kilo, and solder, paint, fittings and insulation bring the price down. Send photos of your copper and we reply with today's price for that load.
What counts as clean copper scrap?
Clean copper is bare metal with no insulation, solder, paint, brass fittings or steel clamps attached. Bright, stripped wire and clean pipe offcuts are the usual examples. Clean copper scrap earns a higher price per kilo than the same copper with fittings left on.
Do you buy copper cable with the insulation still on?
Yes. We buy insulated cable as it is and price it on the copper inside. Thick cable holds more copper, so it is worth more per kilo than thin data cable. Never burn insulation off: it is toxic and it lowers the grade.
Do I need to strip copper wire before I sell it?
No. Stripped, bare wire is worth more per kilo, so with thick cable and a proper stripper it can pay. For thin or mixed cable it rarely does. Ask when you send photos and we will tell you which way pays better.
Do you buy copper hot water cylinders?
Yes. Copper cylinders from plumbing jobs and renovations are good scrap. Steel cylinders are scrap too, at the steel price. Send a photo and we will tell you which you have.
Can you collect copper from a job site?
Yes. We collect from job sites, workshops and businesses across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, the Redlands, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. We do not collect from homes at the moment.
