Brisbane scrap aluminium buyers who collect from your site
Aluminium is light, so old frames and offcuts fill a corner of the site long before they get heavy. It is a non-ferrous metal that keeps its value as scrap. Forge Recyclers buys scrap aluminium in Brisbane and across South East Queensland from glaziers, builders, fabricators and workshops. We pick it up from your site. Send photos of the load and we reply with a quote.

Why sell your scrap aluminium to Forge Recyclers
- Bulky loads, collected. Frames and offcuts take up room long before they get heavy, and we collect them from your site.
- Each type has its own grade. Extrusion, sheet, castings and swarf are graded apart, so sorting pays.
- A quote from your photos. See the quote before we book the pick-up.
- One trip for mixed metal. Add the steel and copper from the same job.
Scrap aluminium prices in Brisbane: what it is worth
We price aluminium by type and weight. Clean extrusion and sheet sit in the better grades. Glass, rubber seals, steel screws, plastic thermal breaks and heavy paint all bring a grade down. Cast aluminium and swarf each have their own grade. Aluminium prices vary with the world market from day to day, so we quote today's price once we see your photos.
Sorting pays with aluminium:
- Take glass and rubber seals out of frames when it is safe to do.
- Pull out steel screws, hinges and brackets. A magnet finds them.
- Keep cast pieces, extrusion and sheet in separate piles.
- Keep swarf dry and away from steel turnings.
Who sells us scrap aluminium
Glaziers and window installers take out old frames on most jobs. Builders and shopfitters strip shopfronts, partitions and balustrades. Fabricators, sign makers and engineering shops build up offcuts, sheet and swarf every week. Mechanics end up with alloy wheels and cast engine parts.

Aluminium recycling in Brisbane
You can recycle aluminium over and over, and it takes far less energy than making new metal. The Australian Aluminium Council says recycling uses only 5% of the energy used to make the original product. It also says about 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use. Smelters melt your old frames and offcuts and turn them into new extrusion, sheet and castings. For a glazier or fabricator, that turns a pile of offcuts into income and keeps it out of landfill.

Aluminium and the other scrap metals we buy
Ferrous metals contain iron and non-ferrous metals don't. One pick-up can take both: tap a metal to see what we take.
Non-ferrous metals
No iron in them, so a magnet won't stick. They are worth more per kilo than steel.
Ferrous metals
Steel and iron, which a magnet sticks to, and stainless steel, an iron alloy graded on its own.
Mixed-metal items
Things made of more than one material, such as cable, motors and converters.
What Forge Recyclers can't take
For safety, we can't take these, even mixed in with metal. Not sure about an item? Ask us before the pick-up.
- Asbestos
- Explosives and ammunition
- Fuel and other flammables
- Sealed gas cylinders
- Corrosive or poisonous chemicals
- Medical or biohazard waste
- Radioactive material
- Household rubbish

Questions about selling scrap aluminium
How much is scrap aluminium per kg in Brisbane?
It comes down to the type of aluminium, how clean it is and the aluminium price on the day, which follows the world market. Bare extrusion and clean sheet earn more per kilo than frames with glass, rubber or steel still in them. Send photos and a rough count, and we quote today's price for the load.
Should I take the glass out of old window frames?
If you can do it safely, yes. Glass and rubber add weight but no aluminium, so bare frames grade higher. If the glass is still in, say so when you send photos and we will tell you what we can do.
Is cast aluminium the same grade as extrusion?
No. In trade terms, cast parts such as cylinder heads, gearbox housings and pump bodies sit in a different grade from extrusion and sheet. Keep them in their own pile and we price each grade on its own.
Do you buy alloy wheels?
Yes. Most alloy wheels are cast aluminium. Tyres, valve stems and balance weights are not, so bare rims grade higher. Send a photo and tell us how many still have tyres on.
Is aluminium a non-ferrous metal?
Yes. Aluminium contains no iron, so a magnet will not hold onto it. It also weighs about a third as much as steel of the same size. That is why a stack of frames can look big and still weigh little. A magnet is handy for finding steel screws and hinges left in a frame.
Can you collect aluminium from a building site or factory?
Yes. We collect from building sites, workshops, factories and other businesses across South East Queensland. We do not collect from homes at the moment.
