Brisbane scrap brass buyers who collect from your site
Old taps, valves and fittings pile up on plumbing jobs, and machine shops fill bins with turnings. Brass is a non-ferrous metal, mostly copper, so that scrap has real value. Forge Recyclers buys scrap brass in Brisbane and across South East Queensland, and we collect it from your site. Send photos of the brass and we reply with a quote.
Types of scrap brass we buy
Yellow brass
Taps, mixers, valves, hose and water fittings, chrome-plated or bare.
Red brass and gunmetal
Heavier valves, pump bodies and fittings with a redder colour.
Bronze
Bearings, bushes, marine fittings and boat propellers.
Turnings and offcuts
Swarf, rod ends and offcuts from machine shops and engineering firms.
Brass with attachments
Valves and taps that still have steel spindles, rubber or plastic in them.

Why sell your scrap brass to Forge Recyclers
- Collected from your workshop or site. Bins of old taps and turnings leave without anyone driving them to a yard.
- Red brass and bronze graded apart. They hold more copper than yellow brass, so we grade them on their own.
- Photos first, then a quote. You see the quote before anything is collected.
- Brass and copper in one pick-up. Add the copper pipe and steel from the same jobs.
Scrap brass prices in Brisbane: what your brass is worth
We price brass by grade and weight. Brass with nothing attached earns more than brass with steel, rubber or plastic still in it. Red brass and bronze hold more copper, so we grade them apart from yellow brass. Brass is mostly copper mixed with zinc, so its price follows the copper market and moves every day. That is why we skip the printed price list: send photos, and we work out today's price for your brass.
A little sorting lifts the price:
- Run a magnet over each piece. If it sticks, there is a steel screw, spring or spindle to take out.
- Pull off rubber washers, plastic handles and tap heads.
- Keep brass apart from copper and bronze.
- Store turnings in a covered bin so they stay dry.
Who sells us scrap brass
Plumbers and gasfitters replace taps, mixers, valves and hot water fittings on bathroom and kitchen jobs. Machine shops turn brass rod and end up with swarf and offcuts. Locksmiths, shopfitters and builders remove door hardware during fit-outs. Demolition crews pull brass out with the copper pipe it was joined to.
We buy from all of them. See how we work with tradies, workshops and manufacturers and demolition crews.
Brass recycling in Brisbane
Foundries and brass mills melt scrap brass down and turn it into new rod, valves and fittings. The copper and zinc in your old taps can come back as plumbing parts again and again, and recycling them saves mining new metal. For a plumbing or engineering business, the brass that builds up after each job becomes income instead of waste. It stays out of landfill and general skips, and it is ready to go when we collect.
Scrap brass pick-up from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast
We collect brass from plumbing businesses, workshops and building sites from the Sunshine Coast down to the Gold Coast. Most trade scrap is mixed, so one pick-up can take the brass with your copper, steel, cable and old lead-acid batteries. The process starts with your photos: we quote, and if the price suits you, we book a time to collect. Check the areas we cover or read how a scrap metal pick-up works.

Brass and the other scrap metals we buy
Ferrous metals contain iron and non-ferrous metals don't. One pick-up can take both: tap a metal to see what we take.
Non-ferrous metals
No iron in them, so a magnet won't stick. They are worth more per kilo than steel.
Ferrous metals
Steel and iron, which a magnet sticks to, and stainless steel, an iron alloy graded on its own.
Mixed-metal items
Things made of more than one material, such as cable, motors and converters.
What Forge Recyclers can't take
For safety, we can't take these, even mixed in with metal. Not sure about an item? Ask us before the pick-up.
- Asbestos
- Explosives and ammunition
- Fuel and other flammables
- Sealed gas cylinders
- Corrosive or poisonous chemicals
- Medical or biohazard waste
- Radioactive material
- Household rubbish

Questions about selling scrap brass
How much is scrap brass per kg in Brisbane?
It depends on the type of brass, how clean it is and the copper price on the day. Yellow brass with nothing attached earns more per kilo than taps with steel or plastic inside. Red brass and bronze hold more copper again. Send photos and we reply with today's price for your brass.
Is brass a ferrous or non-ferrous metal?
Brass is non-ferrous. It is a mix of copper and zinc with no iron in it, so a magnet will not stick to solid brass. If a magnet pulls on a tap or a valve, there is a steel part inside it.
Do chrome-plated taps count as brass?
Often, yes. Many chrome taps and mixers are brass under the plating. Scrape the threaded tail: yellow metal underneath means brass. Send a photo and we will grade them for you.
Do I have to take the steel and rubber out first?
No. We buy brass with parts still attached, at a lower grade. Pulling out a steel spindle or a rubber washer lifts the grade when it takes a few seconds. For a big lot, ask us first whether the time pays off.
Do you buy brass turnings from machine shops?
Yes. Keep brass turnings apart from steel and aluminium swarf, and as dry as you can. Cutting fluid adds weight but no metal. Tell us roughly how many bins or drums you have when you send photos.
Can you collect brass from a plumbing job or workshop?
Yes. We pick up from job sites, plumbing businesses, workshops and factories between the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast. We do not collect from homes at the moment.
