Brisbane scrap radiator buyers who collect from your workshop
Workshops swap out radiators every week, and the copper, brass and aluminium in them are non-ferrous metals with scrap value. Forge Recyclers buys scrap radiators in Brisbane and across South East Queensland from mechanics, radiator repairers, fleet workshops and plant hire businesses. We collect from your workshop or depot. Send photos of the radiators and we reply with a quote.
Types of scrap radiators we buy
Copper-brass radiators
Copper cores with brass tanks from cars, trucks and machinery.
Aluminium with plastic tanks
Common in modern cars and utes.
All-aluminium radiators
Aluminium cores with aluminium tanks.
Truck and machinery radiators
Big cores from trucks, buses, earthmoving gear and generators.
Heater cores
Small radiators from behind the dashboard, copper-brass or aluminium.
Intercoolers
Aluminium intercoolers from turbo and diesel engines.
Air-con coils and condensers
Aluminium fins on copper tube. Tell us if the gas is still in.
Why sell your scrap radiators to Forge Recyclers
- Collected from your workshop or depot. The stack out the back goes without a trip to a yard.
- Copper-brass and aluminium graded apart. Copper-brass cores earn more per kilo, so keep them separate.
- A quote from your photos. See it before we collect anything.
- Batteries and converters on the same trip. A workshop can sell the lot in one pick-up.
Radiator scrap prices in Brisbane: what they are worth
We price radiators by type and weight. Copper-brass radiators hold copper and brass, so they earn more per kilo than aluminium ones. Clean cores earn the most. Steel brackets, fans, shrouds and leftover coolant all mean a radiator earns less. The copper and aluminium markets drive the price from day to day, so we quote today's price for your pallet.
Three things lift the price:
- Keep copper-brass radiators apart from aluminium ones.
- Unbolt steel brackets, fans and shrouds when it is quick to do.
- Drain the coolant before the radiator goes on the pile, or tell us it is still in.
Who sells us scrap radiators
Radiators come from most industries that run engines or cooling plant. Mechanics and radiator repairers replace cores and stack the old ones out the back. Fleet, bus and truck workshops swap radiators during services and repairs. Earthmoving, plant hire and generator businesses replace big cores on their machines. Air-conditioning and refrigeration techs remove coils and condensers.

Radiator recycling in Brisbane
Old radiators are non-ferrous metal scrap, and the copper, brass and aluminium in them can go round again and again. Copper-brass cores go to copper and brass mills, and aluminium cores go to aluminium smelters, which turn them into new tube, sheet and castings. Recycling them saves mining new metal and keeps bulky cores out of landfill. For a workshop, the stack out the back becomes income instead of waste, and your waste management records show it as recycled.

Radiators and the other scrap metals we buy
Ferrous metals contain iron and non-ferrous metals don't. One pick-up can take both: tap a metal to see what we take.
Non-ferrous metals
No iron in them, so a magnet won't stick. They are worth more per kilo than steel.
Ferrous metals
Steel and iron, which a magnet sticks to, and stainless steel, an iron alloy graded on its own.
Mixed-metal items
Things made of more than one material, such as cable, motors and converters.
What Forge Recyclers can't take
For safety, we can't take these, even mixed in with metal. Not sure about an item? Ask us before the pick-up.
- Asbestos
- Explosives and ammunition
- Fuel and other flammables
- Sealed gas cylinders
- Corrosive or poisonous chemicals
- Medical or biohazard waste
- Radioactive material
- Household rubbish

Questions about selling scrap radiators
What is the radiator scrap price per kilo?
It depends on the type, the weight and the metal market on the day. Copper-brass radiators earn more per kilo than aluminium ones, and steel brackets or leftover coolant bring the price down. Send photos of the front and back and we quote today's price for the lot.
Do you buy car and truck radiators?
Yes. We buy radiators from cars, utes, trucks, buses, earthmoving gear and generators, along with heater cores and intercoolers. Mixed pallets are fine. Tell us roughly how many of each type you have.
Do I need to drain the coolant first?
Drain it if you can, because coolant adds weight but no metal and can leak in transit. If some radiators still hold coolant, say so in your message and we will tell you what we need.
Do you buy radiators with plastic tanks?
Yes. Most modern aluminium radiators have plastic end tanks. Tell us they are there when you send photos, and we will say whether taking them off pays for your time.
How do I tell copper-brass from aluminium radiators?
Copper-brass radiators are heavy, with reddish copper fins and yellow brass tanks. Aluminium ones are silver and light, and many have plastic tanks. A magnet will not stick to either, but it will find steel brackets.
Do you collect radiators from workshops?
Yes. We collect from mechanics, radiator shops, fleet depots and plant hire businesses across South East Queensland. If radiators come off every week, ask about a regular pick-up.
