Why manufacturers sell their scrap metal to Forge Recyclers
- Each alloy on its own grade. Keep stainless, aluminium and brass apart, and we price each one on its grade.
- Production keeps running. Our collection service comes to your site, so nobody stops work for a scrap run.
- Mixed streams, one pick-up. Offcuts, swarf, motors and old machines go on the same trip.
- The price before the pick-up. The process starts with photos, and you see the quote before we book.
One-off clean-outs and regular pick-ups
Choose a one-off pick-up for a factory move, a plant upgrade or a yard full of old jigs and racking. Send photos of what's going, with rough sizes for anything big.
If offcuts and swarf fill a drum every week, ask about a regular pick-up. Tell us which metals you produce, roughly how much each month and where the drums sit. We'll talk through timing that fits your production schedule.
How we price factory and workshop scrap
We buy ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal, and each stream is priced on its own grade. Non-ferrous metals such as copper, brass and aluminium earn the most. Stainless is an iron alloy, so it counts as ferrous, yet it earns far more than mild steel. Grade, weight and the market on the day set the rest. Send photos of each drum for today's price.
Scrap metal recycling from the factory floor
Production scrap recycles well, because it is usually clean and of a known alloy. We pass what we collect to metal recyclers and mills, which melt it down and make new sheet, bar and castings. Metal can make that trip again and again, which means less new mining and less energy. For a manufacturer, it turns a waste stream into income and keeps metal out of landfill. It also clears floor space for the work that pays.
Getting more for your offcuts and swarf
- Set up labelled drums so nobody mixes stainless with mild steel.
- Give each metal's swarf its own drum, and let the cutting fluid drain off.
- Keep painted, coated and plated parts apart from bare offcuts.
- Tell us the alloy if you know it, such as 316 stainless or 6061 aluminium.

Ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal we buy from factories and workshops
Ferrous metals contain iron and non-ferrous metals don't. One pick-up can take both: tap a metal to see what we take.
Non-ferrous metals
No iron in them, so a magnet won't stick. They are worth more per kilo than steel.
Ferrous metals
Steel and iron, which a magnet sticks to, and stainless steel, an iron alloy graded on its own.
Mixed-metal items
Things made of more than one material, such as cable, motors and converters.
What Forge Recyclers can't take
For safety, we can't take these, even mixed in with metal. Not sure about an item? Ask us before the pick-up.
- Asbestos
- Explosives and ammunition
- Fuel and other flammables
- Sealed gas cylinders
- Corrosive or poisonous chemicals
- Medical or biohazard waste
- Radioactive material
- Household rubbish

Questions about selling industrial scrap metal
Do you offer industrial scrap metal removal?
Yes. We remove and buy industrial scrap metal from factories and workshops across Brisbane and South East Queensland: offcuts, swarf, rejects and retired machines. Send photos with rough sizes, and we quote before we book the pick-up.
Do you take swarf and turnings?
Yes. Keep each metal's swarf in its own drum and let the cutting fluid drain off first. Send a photo and tell us the metal, and we quote it.
Do you buy old machines and equipment?
Yes, as scrap metal. Lathes, presses, guillotines and old racking are mostly steel and iron, with copper in the motors. Tell us roughly how big each piece is and where it sits, so we can plan the pick-up.
Is stainless steel worth more than mild steel?
Yes, stainless earns well above mild steel. Mix the two and the stainless can lose that value, so keep a separate drum for it from the start.
Do you buy painted or coated metal?
Yes. Paint, powder coat and plating lower the grade, so coated metal prices below bare metal. Keep it in its own pile and tell us what the coating is.
Can we arrange a regular pick-up for our factory?
Ask us. Tell us your main metals, how much builds up each month and where you keep it. We'll talk through how often a pick-up suits your floor.
