No matter your trade, we accept ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal. Copper, brass, cable and aluminium are the non-ferrous side, and they earn the most. Steel and iron, from roofing to fence posts, make up the ferrous side.
Why tradies sell their scrap metal to Forge Recyclers
- No scrap runs after work. We collect from your yard, workshop or job, so the scrap never rides in your ute.
- Quotes from a few photos. Snap the pile on your phone, send the photos with the quote form, and we come back with a quote.
- Every bucket on one pick-up. Copper, brass, cable, steel, batteries and converters all go together.
- Straight answers on sorting. We tell you which sorting pays, such as whether stripping cable is worth your time.
One-off clean-outs and regular pick-ups
A one-off pick-up suits a yard clean-out, the end of a big job or a strip-out that leaves a heap of pipe and cable. Send photos of the lot, and we quote it in one go.
When scrap builds up week after week, ask about a regular pick-up. The process works like this:
- Keep a drum or bucket for each metal at your yard or workshop: copper, brass, cable and steel.
- When they fill up, call us or send a photo with the quote form.
- We quote that load and come to collect it.
How we price trade scrap metal
We price trade scrap one metal at a time, on its grade and weight. Grade is the big lever. Bare copper pipe or bright stripped wire earns far more than copper with solder, paint or brass fittings left on. Brass has its own price, and so does insulated cable. Metal prices move with the market, so we quote today's price from your photos.
Trade scrap goes to metal recycling
Copper offcuts and old cable don't belong in a skip or the general waste. Everything we collect goes on to metal recycling, where it becomes new pipe, wire and fittings. Copper and brass go through that loop again and again without losing quality, so it saves new mining and energy. For a tradie, it means a cleaner van, a tidier shed and money back from metal you used to throw out. And when a builder asks how you handle site waste, you have a straight answer.
Getting more for your scrap
- Copper and brass look alike when they're dirty. Copper is reddish and brass is yellow, so give each its own bucket.
- Cut brass fittings off copper pipe when it takes a few seconds.
- Keep cable offcuts in their own bucket, away from bare copper.
- Drain old hot water cylinders before they go on the pile.
Each metal has its own page, such as brass and copper. For a site with a steady flow of offcuts, see commercial scrap metal collection.

We collect from your site and pay you for the metal.
Ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal we buy from tradies
Ferrous metals contain iron and non-ferrous metals don't. One pick-up can take both: tap a metal to see what we take.
Non-ferrous metals
No iron in them, so a magnet won't stick. They are worth more per kilo than steel.
Ferrous metals
Steel and iron, which a magnet sticks to, and stainless steel, an iron alloy graded on its own.
Mixed-metal items
Things made of more than one material, such as cable, motors and converters.
What Forge Recyclers can't take
For safety, we can't take these, even mixed in with metal. Not sure about an item? Ask us before the pick-up.
- Asbestos
- Explosives and ammunition
- Fuel and other flammables
- Sealed gas cylinders
- Corrosive or poisonous chemicals
- Medical or biohazard waste
- Radioactive material
- Household rubbish

Questions about selling trade scrap metal
How much do electricians and plumbers get for scrap copper and brass?
It depends on the grade and the market price on the day. Clean copper pipe and bright stripped wire earn the most per kilo, and brass has a price of its own. Keep them in separate buckets, send photos, and we reply with today's price.
Do I need to sort my scrap before you collect it?
No. We take mixed loads and quote them from your photos. Sorting does pay, though, because clean copper and brass grade higher than a mixed bucket.
Can you collect from a job site, not just my yard?
Yes. We collect from building sites, commercial and industrial jobs, trade yards and workshops across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. We don't collect from homes at the moment.
Do you buy copper cylinders, old taps and brass fittings?
Yes. Copper hot water cylinders, brass taps, valves and fittings are all good scrap. Keep the brass apart from the copper, because each has its own grade.
Do you take batteries and converters from mechanics?
Yes. We buy lead-acid batteries and catalytic converters, and they can go on the same pick-up as your radiators and steel. For converters, photograph the code on each one.
How do I get a quote as a tradie?
