Construction scrap metal, collected from your site

Forge Recyclers buys construction scrap metal from builders, site managers and subcontractors across Brisbane, and we collect it from site. Rebar offcuts, steel framing, roofing iron, copper pipe and cable all have value. Send photos of the pile, and we reply with a quote.

Scrap we collect from building sites

Why builders sell their scrap metal to Forge Recyclers

  • More room in your skip. Metal kept out of the general waste skip leaves space for the rubbish you pay to remove.
  • Offcuts that pay. We buy the steel, copper and aluminium your crews cut off.
  • One pick-up for the whole site. Steel, copper, cable, aluminium and old fittings go together.
  • Wherever you're building. We collect across South East QLD, from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast.

One-off clean-outs and regular pick-ups

Book a one-off pick-up at the end of a stage, before handover, or when the metal pile starts to get in the way. The process is short: send photos of the pile and the site access, and we quote it.

On a long build, ask about a regular pick-up. Tell us the stages ahead, the metals you expect and how fast they pile up, and we'll talk it through.

Construction steel scrap prices

Steel, a ferrous metal, makes up the bulk of most site scrap. It weighs a lot and earns less per kilo than non-ferrous copper, cable or aluminium, so the copper and cable from a site can be worth more than their size suggests. We price each metal on its grade, its weight and the market on the day. Clean rebar with the concrete knocked off grades higher. Send photos of each pile and we reply with today's price.

Construction metal waste, recycled

In the construction industry, metal is one of the few kinds of site waste that pays. Everything we collect goes on to recycling. Mills melt rebar and framing offcuts into new steel, and copper goes back into new pipe and wire, again and again. That saves new mining and energy. On your site, a metal-only pile keeps steel and copper out of landfill and out of the general waste skip. When a client or head contractor asks how the job handles waste, the metal has a clear answer: sold and recycled.

Getting more for your site scrap

  • Set up a metal-only corner or stillage close to where crews cut.
  • Keep copper pipe and cable apart from steel, in a spot you can lock.
  • Knock loose concrete off rebar where it comes away easily.
  • Keep timber, plastic and packaging out of the metal pile.
  • Tell us the length of any long steel before the pick-up.

If the job starts with a knock-down, see demolition and site clearance. For a company with several sites, see commercial scrap metal collection.

  1. Send photos and details

Call us, or use the quote form and add a few photos. Tell us what you have, roughly how much, and your suburb.

  3. We pick it up

We collect from your site and pay you for the metal.

Ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal we buy from builders

Ferrous metals contain iron and non-ferrous metals don't. One pick-up can take both: tap a metal to see what we take.

Non-ferrous metals

No iron in them, so a magnet won't stick. They are worth more per kilo than steel.

Ferrous metals

Steel and iron, which a magnet sticks to, and stainless steel, an iron alloy graded on its own.

Mixed-metal items

Things made of more than one material, such as cable, motors and converters.

What Forge Recyclers can't take

For safety, we can't take these, even mixed in with metal. Not sure about an item? Ask us before the pick-up.

  • Asbestos
  • Explosives and ammunition
  • Fuel and other flammables
  • Sealed gas cylinders
  • Corrosive or poisonous chemicals
  • Medical or biohazard waste
  • Radioactive material
  • Household rubbish

Questions about selling construction scrap metal

How much is construction steel scrap worth?

Steel earns less per kilo than copper, aluminium or cable, but a building site turns out a lot of it. Its price depends on the grade, the weight and the steel market on the day. Send photos of the pile and we reply with today's price.

Can you collect from a building site that's still running?

Yes. Tell us where the metal is, how a vehicle gets in and any rules for vehicles on site. Send photos and we quote before we book a time.

Do you buy rebar with concrete still on it?

Yes. Concrete adds weight but no value, so heavy concrete lowers the price. Knock off what comes away easily before the pick-up.

Can you take long lengths of steel?

Send a photo with the rough lengths in your message. We'll say what fits the pick-up, or where a cut would help.

Do you take metal roofing from older buildings?

We take metal roofing, gutters and flashing. We don't take asbestos or any sheeting that may contain it, so get suspect sheeting checked and keep it well away from the metal.

How do we get a quote for site scrap?

Call us, or use the quote form with the site suburb and what's in the pile. Add photos of the metal and the way in, and we reply with a quote.
